I denne omgang af MAKING SOCIAL REALITIES WITH BOOKS, vil den franske kurator, kunstner og forlægger Delphine Bedel arbejde med og diskutere de økonomiske, politiske og teknologiske aspekter af forlagsbranchen og selvpublicering.
I workshoppen “How to Self-Publish” vil Bedel sammen med de deltagende arbejde på hvordan man kan udgive egne publikationer — alt fra koncept, til design og redigering vil blive diskuteret og fremvist. Har man selv en lille publikation så anbefales det at man tager denne med.

Lecture: Self-Publishing – The New Economy of the Book
Delphine Bedel will speak about the drastic economic and technological changes occurring in the publishing industry, and how this affects artistic practice and art institutions. In the perspective of the book as a privilege medium for artists, her talk will address the shift from print to software culture. Besides looking at new modes of production and distribution as well as expanded forms of “books”, her new research project and publishing platform Metabooks will be presented.
Workshop: How to Self-Publish?
Join Delphine Bedel for an introduction workshop on how to self-publish a book. From concept, editing, design, print technique to distribution, the production process will be discussed. In the first part, various self-publishing and economical models, as well as recent artists and photo books, hybrid and e-publishing projects will be presented as case studies. This practical and theoretical three-hour workshop aims at artists, designers, writers and anyone interested in publishing. For the second part, the group will work as an editorial board. Each participant is invited to bring his/her own current project, book dummy, material in print or just some ideas on paper to be discussed. Bringing a laptop and print outs of the projects is recommended. The workshop will take place form 13:00 to 16:00, followed by the lecture at 19.00.
